The Wyoming/Raleigh Offices recognize KVC resource foster mother Tabitha (“Tabbie”) Rowe. She and her husband Okey were certified in 2014 as foster parents and they live in Ikes Fork.

This is a special day for Tabbie and her family as they celebrate the adoption of their beautiful daughter Aiyanna Starr Rowe! Tabbie is the daughter of longtime KVC employee Kimberly Toler. We are honored to call them part of the KVC family and are so happy to share in their joy!

Congratulations Tabbie and your entire gang!  Thank you, Judge Warren McGraw, for finalizing the adoption and giving Aiyanna a forever home.

Home Finder Brittany Sponaugle honors KVC foster mother Debbie Metheny:

“Debra Metheny and her husband Rick became foster parents in June 2011. She states that with just her and her husband at home, they knew there were kids out there who needed a loving home and they could provide that. Debra states that being a foster parent has given her a better understanding of what kids need. Debra lost her husband last August and states that if it weren’t for the children she is providing foster care for, she would not have gotten through it.

Last month, Debra adopted 5 beautiful children and is currently fostering another! She states that her children have brought her tremendous joy and her life centers around what makes them happy! She has a busy household but it’s bursting full of love and she wouldn’t have it any other way! Debra is an amazing asset to the KVC family and we thank her for all that she has done!”

Cathy Reed

CReed

Cathy Reed

KVC Logan office would like to honor resource foster parent Cathy Reed. Cathy and her husband, Dale, have been foster parents with KVC since 2009. Cathy and Dale have two grown children and several grandchildren. Cathy and Dale have fostered approximately 30 children since becoming foster parents. When they were first certified, they began with interest in being a foster family only. Their primary motivation was to provide a safe, loving home environment to children until they could return home to their parents. Eventually, they became interested in adopting.

In 2012, they adopted a sibling set of three to add to their family. The next year, they also adopted another sibling set of three children that had been placed in their home. But the Reeds did not stop there! The opportunity arose for the adoption of an infant sibling to the last sibling group the Reeds had adopted. Cathy did not hesitate to take this child into her home and make him a part of her family and unify the sibling group. Incredibly, another sibling to the children became available for adoption in 2014. Again, without hesitation, Cathy also welcomed this child into her home and is now in the process of adopting her. When the adoption is finalized, Cathy and Dale will have adopted a total of eight children. Cathy has a deep understanding of the importance of the sibling bond and the need for the family to stay together. She shows a love and commitment to her children that is clear for all to see. Cathy admits that sometimes there are challenges but she has the support of a loving family to help with these challenges.

Cathy has an outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. When asked what she does with her free time, she laughingly responds, “What free time?” We at the Logan office sometimes refer to her as “Super Mom.” She is a great asset to our foster/adopt program and is indeed a “Super Mom.”

Jeanie Garrett

JGarrett

Jeanie Garrett

Myra “Jeanie” Garrett and her family became a KVC foster family in 2007. She and her husband Robert “Clyde” became foster parents so that they could help children. They wanted to provide children with structure and a positive mother and father figure. They have one adult son, Christopher. Chris and his family visit often. He is very supportive of his parents’ decision to foster. Jeannie and Clyde also have one biological daughter, Taylor, who has also opened her heart and shared her parents with her foster siblings.

Jeannie and her family have cared for 8 different children through the foster care system. She and her husband completed Legal Guardianship with three of their older girls and adopted their youngest in 2013. After their adoption was completed, they decided to close their home to foster care. However, to KVC’s delight, Jeannie called in October 2014 and reported that the family built a new bedroom onto their home. They had decided to open their home and hearts to one more child.

In January 2015, they were called late one evening and asked to care for two young brothers from a sibling group of four. Jeannie, in her typical motherly style, accepted the two boys right away without question and only caring that the boys be safe and protected. She and her husband quickly made arrangements late that evening between their older daughters sporting events to pick up the boys. Now these boys are thriving, happy little boys with smiles on their faces.

Jeannie and her family have opened not only their home, but their hearts to all of the children that have come into their home. Their family members have also opened their hearts to these children and accepted them as part of their family. The Garrett family and their extended family have taken family vacations to Virginia Beach together with all the kids. It is wonderful that they have the support of their extended family.

Jeannie Garrett is a wonderful KVC foster mother that has provided a positive impact on the lives of the children that have come into her home. She has provided them with a stable and loving home, and she has accepted them as her own for a lifetime. She has given these children someone to trust, and she has given these children hope for their futures. Jeannie Garrett is a true champion and KVC salutes her in all that she does.

“Rebecca Davis has been a KVC foster parent since 1998. Rebecca is an exceptional parent that is able to treat each child as one of her own. Rebecca cares for children of all ages. For younger children, she ensures their medical and developmental needs are met. She enrolls the children into Birth to Three services if needed and works with them on developmental delays. For the older children, Rebecca is very supportive of children being involved in activities such as cheerleading, gymnastics, and participating in school sports and band. Rebecca encourages children in her home to learn independent living skills. She supports teenagers in obtaining their driver’s license, getting a job, managing money, and learning skills needed to become independent. Rebecca is family-oriented and enjoys doing activities with her children such as taking trips to the beach or Tennessee. Thank you Rebecca Davis for all you have done for WV children. Words can not express it enough!”

Rose Neal

Rose

The month of May is coming to an end. But that doesn’t mean that Foster Parent Appreciation Month is ending; EVERY day is Foster Parent Appreciation at KVC!

Kristi Ferrell, Director of Foster Care Intake, and the staff working in Clay County would like to recognize Rose Neal:

“Rose Neal and her family became a KVC foster home in 2014. She and her husband Willie became foster parents so they could provide a loving home to WV children in need. They have one adult daughter, Robin. Rose and Willie adopted Robin when she was baby. Robin is a big help to Rose with the children placed in their home.

Rose and her family have cared for five children since becoming foster parents. Four of the children were age 5 and under. Rose was ready to be a foster parent at the first meeting held in Clay County, WV. She had her information completed and was ready to start training. The extended Neal family has accepted the children in Rose’s home as members of their big, happy family.

Rose and Willie attend church faithfully and are involved in all of the church activities. Rose’s faith and love of God gives her the strength she needs to provide love and care to the children.

KVC is proud to say that Rose Neal is an outstanding foster mother. She has opened her heart and home to children and never fails to provide unconditional love. Thank you Rose for all you do for WV children!”
