Welcome to First Star! First Star is a national program dedicated to empowering high school-aged foster students to invest in their future. With “Academies” across eight states at 14 participating universities, including UCLA, University of Miami, Arizona State University and more, we are pleased to offer the program here in West Virginia at Fairmont State University. Through a partnership with First Star National, KVC West Virginia and Fairmont State University, we are here to help the 6,500 youth in foster care in West Virginia by ensuring they have the academic, life skills, and adult support needed to transition to higher education and adulthood successfully.
