Recognizing and setting boundaries is essential for all social workers and mental health professionals. This training will dive into the importance of boundaries and offer practical advice for navigating them smoothly.

teenage brain developmentLed by our experienced trainer, this session will blend interactive discussions with real-world scenarios to thoroughly examine the responsibilities of social workers and mental health professionals. We’ll delve into our interactions with clients, colleagues, our agency, and the broader community, while also tackling a variety of boundary issues and honing communication skills to address them effectively. Additionally, we’ll explore the nuanced aspects of establishing personal and professional boundaries, weighing their advantages and potential challenges. By the end of the training, attendees will be well-equipped to set boundaries with confidence and uphold integrity in their practice. Attendees who participate in the full training will receive 2 CEUs.

In this training, Erin Keltner, LCSW, LICSW, KVC West Virginia’s Vice President of Clinical Services, will discuss:

  • The importance of professional and personal boundaries in the workplace​
  • Our responsibilities as providers​
  • Dual relationships and power differentials

*CEUs are valid for individuals in West Virginia who have a social work license or are licensed professional counselors (LPC).

KVC West Virginia provides this training free of cost to employees of the West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS). To register, please email Kristina Foster at kafoster@kvc.org.

Community Providers

Professionals that work in organizations outside of DoHS can pay a small registration fee of $40 to register for this training. Submit the form below to pay the registration fee and get the registration link.

Erin Keltner, LCSW, LICSW

Erin Keltner is Vice President of Clinical Services at KVC West Virginia, where she oversees all clinical services and manages all organizational outcomes and quality assurance efforts. With over 20 years of experience, she has held many roles in child welfare and mental health from direct care to leadership. Erin holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Transylvania University. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Kentucky and a licensed independent clinical social worker in West Virginia. Learn more about Erin at kvcwv.org/leadership.
