How To Become A Foster Parent
Each year, hundreds of local children are removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or other challenges. These kids and teenagers need the support of a caring foster family.

Position Descriptions
Foster/Adoptive Case Manager (Lincoln county)
The Foster/Adoptive Case Manager will:
- Make required home visits to the foster or adoptive home a minimum of two times per month or as directed by the child’s treatment plan
- Travel (possibly to multiple counties in a service area) and be able to work in homes of families we serve
- Make at least one school visit per month or as directed by the child’s treatment plan
- Attend all Multi-Disciplinary (MDT) meetings and all IEP meetings
- Act as a member of a treatment team and give feedback on client progress
- Ensure that all child-placing and Medicaid standards are met through documentation and keeping the child’s chart up to date.
- Provide supervised visitation and will document the outcome of the visits.
- Work with all community members involved in the child’s life including the birth mother or birth extended family
- Maintains working relationships and communications with DHHR, FFTA and other community partners
- Provides culturally relevant and sensitive services to clients
- Continues to build a child welfare system that is safe, secure, stable, family-centered, connected to the community, and relies on evidence-based practice necessary to support contract services

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or better in child development, human services or social work is preferred
- Qualified applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license and car insurance
Driver (Lincoln county)
The Driver will:
- Provide transportation services for children served by KVC West Virginia
- Ensure timely arrival and drop off of youth to the appropriate staff or guardians must be completed to ensure their well-being and safety
- Demonstrate compassion and understanding while working with children and youth who may have behavioral problems
- Maintain accurate transportation logs and monitors as well as timesheets and submit weekly
- Report the mood and behaviors of the youth as well as any issues or concerns that occur or are overheard to other involved KVC staff that could impact the youth in care
- Represent KVC well in the community by demonstrating professionalism and customer service

Qualifications:
- Education: GED or high school equivalent, or better
- Must have basic computer and typing skills along with good grammar skills to complete required documentation of transports per our contract with state
- Qualified applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license and car insurance
Safe at Home Wraparound Facilitator (Princeton and Charleston counties)
The Safe at Home Wraparound Facilitator will:
- Act as a facilitator of the Safe at Home treatment team while giving and soliciting feedback on client and family progress
- Provide services to biological family members such as CAPS assessments, parenting, visitation, and transportation
- Make required face-to-face home visits to the foster/adoptive and biological home a minimum of one time per week or more often as prescribed by the treatment plan
- Travel (possibly to multiple counties in a service area) and be able to work in homes of families we serve
- Facilitate at least one family team meeting per month
- Engage with all parties involved to ensure that timelines for Engagement and Planning, Implementation, Maintenance, Transition and Aftercare are met and that services are provided effectively and within Wraparound principles
- Act as a member of a treatment team and give feedback on client progress
- Attend all Multi-Disciplinary (MDT) meetings and all IEP meetings
- Ensure that all child-placing, Safe-at-Home, Joint Commission and Medicaid standards are met through documentation and keeping the child and family’s charts up to date.
- Collaborate with community partners and agencies to ensure resources are being utilized effectively/efficiently
- Provides culturally relevant and sensitive services to clients
- Continues to build a child welfare system that is safe, secure, stable, family-centered, connected to the community, and relies on evidence-based practice necessary to support contract services
