SUMMARY:Virtual Training: Mandt
DESCRIPTION:Training Date and Time: January 10\, 6:00pm to 8:00pm \nTraining Description: In this training\, participants will become certified in Mandt relational skills\, and will learn de-escalation methods and other relational skills. \nThe Mandt System is a comprehensive\, integrated approach to preventing\, de-escalating\, and if necessary\, intervening when the behavior of an individual poses a threat of harm to themselves and/or others. The focus of the Mandt System is on building healthy relationships between all the stakeholders in human service settings in order to facilitate the development of an organizational culture that provides the emotional\, psychological\, and physical safety needed in order to teach new behaviors to replace the behaviors that are labeled “challenging.” \nThe Mandt System integrates knowledge about the neurobiological impact of childhood trauma with the principles of positive behavior support and provides a framework that empowers service providers to do their work in a way that minimizes the use of coercion in behavior change methodologies. \nKVC West Virginia offers this virtual course at no cost to non-KVC staff and potential or current KVC foster parents. \nTrainer and credentials: April Robinett\, BS\, LSW\, KVC Home Finder \nCEUs available: None ($0) \nCost for non-KVC Staff and foster parents: None \nMeeting link\nFor questions\, contact: April Robinett\, at 304-951-0911 or arobinett@kvc.org

SUMMARY:Multi-Cultural West Virginia Virtual Training
DESCRIPTION:Training Title: Multi-Cultural West Virginia \nDate and Time: November 30\, 2021\, from 6:00 to 8:00pm  \nTraining Description: Some people tend to assume West Virginia is lacking in cultural diversity\, partly because in most parts of the state we may not see large numbers of racial and ethnic populations outside of White Anglo-Saxon Protestant. Whether or not we look the same culture is reflected in how we sound\, act\, and interpret information differently from place to place. Culture is a community’s shared set of norms\, practices\, beliefs\, values\, traditions\, customs\, history\, and means of expression that affects how we analyze\, judge\, and interpret information\, behavior\, and perceptions about behavior. \nTrainer and Credentials: Robin Atkinson\, MSW\, LGSW \nCEUs Available: None \nCosts for Non-KVC Staff and Foster Parents: None ($0) \nIf paying\, please pay in cash or a check made out to KVC West Virginia.  \nMeeting link\nFor questions\, contact: Robin Atkinson at 304-859-4229 or ratkinson@kvc.org
