KVC WV to Offer Behaviors of Sexually Abused Children Training

KVC WV will offer a training on “Sexualized Behaviors in Sexually Abused Children” to our community partners on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the KVC Charleston Office. The training will take place from 10am to 3pm and lunch will be provided. Four CEUs are approved by the boards of Social Work, Psychology, and Counseling.

This training will be led by KVC’s Dr. Jennifer Storer and Emily Chittendon-Laird of the WV Child Advocacy Network.

Participants will:

  • Increase comfort with addressing sexualized behavior in children and adolescents
  • Gain knowledge of the prevalence of sexual abuse and how sexualized behavior can develop in the context of sexual abuse
  • Distinguish sexualized behaviors from developmentally typical sexual exploration and development
  • Identify sexualized behaviors in children
  • Learn to respond in helpful ways to children with sexualized behaviors
  • Be able to provide basic knowledge to direct caregivers caring for children with sexualized behaviors

The training fee of $80 can be paid by either check or cash on the day of training. Checks may also be mailed to the KVC Charleston Office at 300 Kenton Drive, Charleston, WV 25311 (attention Erin Keltner).  Current DHHR workers may attend the training free of charge.  However, you must enroll prior to attending the training by contacting Erin Keltner at ekeltner@kvc.org for registration information.  Space is limited, so register today!
